Welcome to the initial launch of AttachmentSkills.com!

While still largely under construction, I want to share with you the mission and vision of this site, and let you know about the content you can find right now, and more of what is to come.

The mission and vision of AttachmentSkills.com is nothing less than:

"To transform the way we understand and support children who have missed significant developmental experiences in the earliest years of their lives, often victims of neglect, abuse and trauma."
This site offers a comprehensive model for the healing of attachment trauma in children, and presents breakthroughs in both theory and therapy made in recent years and which must now reach a wider audience. My goal for the site is to create a community of support for all whose lives are touched by these exceptional children, including both parents and professionals of all types whose work includes contact with them.

Included on the current launch version of the site are:

  • A one page summary of the principles of Developmental Attachment-Based Psychotherapy © , which offers a clear blueprint for healing attachment trauma
  • An expanded version of the article recently published in the ATTACh newsletter, entitled: "Advancing the Paradigm Shift: Can't Versus Won't"
  • Several sample pages of the handouts used in my trainings, which highlight the breakthrough principles involved
  • A bio of my professional experience and training
Please check back often, the full site when completed will include:

  • Descriptions of the one, two and three day trainings offered in this model
  • Resources for purchase including training manual, audio and video versions of my trainings
  • Articles for parents
  • Guest contributions from leading practitioners in the field
I am thrilled to launch this new resource for all children whose lives have been touched by early disruptions in their care. This website would not have been possible without my colleague and friend Priscilla Misner,LCSW, whose conversations over the years about these ideas and our struggles to understand Holly's work, have enabled this model to grow. And this site is dedicated to Holly van Gulden, who first discovered and pioneered this way of working many years ago, and who changed my professional world forever with her phrase: "What Starts Outside, Goes Inside!"
